The textile waste that was used to make Asphaltex, a bituminous conglomerate that was used to pave a portion of the FI-PO cycle path in Sesto Fiorentino (in the area of via Bruno Sarri), was destined for the landfill because it was impossible to select and differentiate. An innovation that was brought forward by EndiAsfalti, which is part of the group of companies that created Wastex. Among the objectives of the company, which includes five companies from Prato that come from different sectors, is the need to provide a concrete solution for the reuse of unsorted textile waste that would otherwise be sent to landfill. After years of research in different applications, Wetex solutions are starting to materialize in the first projects, such as that of Asphaltex. Other municipalities have expressed interest in using the Asphaltex solution.
